In 2013 we will host our 26th bicycling adventure. Over the years we’ve seen some amazing scenery, made memories with great friends and hosted riders on over 7,000 miles of cycling in nearly every corner of Virginia.

In the last three years alone our riders’ cumulative mileage is 2.1 million bike miles! Wow!!! That’s a lot of revolutions.

Our riders are a unique blend of enthusiasts, from the dedicated everyday rider to the casual recreation rider, and we love that mix. Ages range from 1 to 85 and bikes, from recumbent trikes to carbon single-speeds.

The tour grew over the years, starting with just a dozen riders in 1988 and 2,000 riders by 2004. For many years we reached out 2,000 rider cap. The year 2013 marks an all new experience with Bike Virginia, we’ll decrease our ride size for the first time, setting our cap lower at 1,600 riders. We want to return to the essence of what Bike Virginia was about, the small rural places, the tucked away history, the little traveled road.
