Each year the tour visits new locations and is hosted by towns, cities and communities in that region.
The 2012 Bike Virginia Tour will visit the beautiful and historic Northwestern corner of Virginia and our “wild and wonderful” neighboring state, West Virginia.
We’re excited to bring you a tour rich with history and fun entertainment as we visit the communities that surround Berryville, Winchester, Shepherdstown, Charles Town, and Harper’s Ferry. Our routes will likely even dip into Maryland for a visit to historic Antietam!
The 2012 Bike Virginia Tour will start with rider check in on Friday June 22, 2012. Riding begins on Saturday morning and concludes on Wednesday June 27, 2012.
Host Towns
Event Headquarters #1
Our first host town will be Clark County and Berryville, Virginia. Berryville is a quaint rural area of just under 3,000 residents founded in 1798. “Berryville was founded at the intersection of the Winchester Turnpike and Charlestown Road,” (Wikipedia, 2011). Prior to formal recognition as a town the tract was called Battle Town because of its military history and a “rowdy” nearby tavern.
Event Headquarters One, our first overnight camping location will be located just outside the town of Berryville at the Clark County High School, an easy walk to dining, and our special 25th Anniversary entertainment.
Riders that wish to stay in hotels will be able to reserve rooms in our official Bike Virginia Tour (BVT) Hotels in nearby Winchester. Winchester also provides an abundance of dining and entertainment options for this year’s riders. See an official hotel list here.
Guests will arrive at Clark County High, check in and either camp or stay in hotels. Rides will leave from and return to Berryville for 1 day of riding. Then the entire tour will move out to our second host town.
Event Headquarters #2
Enjoy the rural tranquility of Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia as Wildwood Middle School hosts us for our 2nd location. Activities and entertainment will be held in nearby Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry and Charles Town, WV. Hotel guests will be accommodated in both Charles Town and Harpers Ferry. If you are interested in booking a hotel room please check out the Accommodations page.
Look for details to come on our evening entertainment options for this centrally located Headquarters location. You’ll have plenty to do!
