Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Bike Routes 2016 Bike Virginia 1024 768 BIKE VIRGINIA

The morning of Monday June 27 marks the big move for Bike Virginia 2016 tour from headquarters one to headquarters two. We pack up our event base in Woodstock and journey along with all our participants over to headquarters 2 at Rockingham County Fair at 4808 S Valley Pike, Harrisonburg, VA 22801

This move is part of our Double Vision special event formula that let’s you have your own gear and your own car nearby for the whole event. Our riders loved this formula where you take your own car to camp 2, it makes for an easy and leisurely event and on the last day you can leave at your own will and ride the loop of your choice on the last day (no waiting on gear delivery trucks).

Don’t worry, we Ride, Ride, Ride on Monday too. We move then ride. It’s peachy!

Monday June 27 2016 Bike Virginia Routes- 9 miles, 35 miles, 61 miles

Bike Virginia Tour Routes in the Shenandoah ValleyOur headquarters is based in Harrisonburg Virginia, Home of James Madison University (JMU). This community is full of wonderful things to do and they have a great cycling culture. They have been recognized as Bronze level certifications on several designations by the League of American Bicyclists and IMBA. In this mountain town you will find some of best riders and riding in the state.

Once you get settled into the new location you will hop on the bike and head back into the valley for one 3 great bike route choices. Take your pick of 9 miles, 35 miles, and 61 miles, any of which will be delightful. You will love the scenery and might event ride along with Amish buggies as you travel through beautiful towns such as Bridgewater, Staunton and even the small hamlet of Stokesville which sits just on the boarder of the George Washington National Forest (make sure to take a dip in the swimming hole at the rest stop).

As you get back into Harrisonburg settle in and relax as you take in your new surroundings. Enjoy one of our evening activities like visiting the beer and wine garden, get a massage, listening to live music at base camp as part of our daily activity schedule, or striking out to take the bus for a pub crawl or restaurant. See some of the fun Bike Virginia outing activities we have in store.

Tuesday June 28 Bike Virginia Event Routes 25 miles, 57 miles,  and 101 miles

camping at headquarters afer riding bike virginia routes on the tourGo deeper into the true beauty of the Shenandoah Valley on Tuesday as you choose one of our signature hand picked bike routes. “If I thought of riding in heaven this is where it would be!”, this is how volunteer Sergei described the routes in this area back in 2010 during the “Knights of the Golden Wheel Tour” as we visited this same area. As you can imagine it is really, really great riding.

Tuesday we roll through some of the most scenic and best-kept roads in the valley. We are offering our second century ride of the event, yes you can make it a double century week!

Whether you’re in for the full pull of the century or just want to take it easy the choice is yours. For those that like a shorter ride, we offer a scenic 25 miles, and a mid-distance 57 mile route. Any of these choices will let you explore the beauty of the region. Your senses will be overloaded as you pedal along thinking about…well whatever you want to think about. That’s the beauty of Bike Virginia.

We will feed you well along the way with rest stops at about every 20 miles. These comfort stations feature heavy and light snacks, fruit, and drink.

Once you hit base camp at the end of the ride, enjoy your meal on us, and then get a massage, do some yoga to stretch out, or head into town, and of course enjoy a nap too!

Wednesday June 29 Bike Virginia Tour Routes- 17, 45, 61 miles 2013_bva_-2734

We want you to enjoy “every last drop” so we make sure that the last day of the tour is just as special as the rest. We feel that Wednesday will be one for the record books. Enjoy a nice selection of routes, great stops, and a fun finish to the event.

Our comfort station rest stops on Wednesday will be at two great spots, the stunning CrossKeys Vineyards and the very historic Grand Caverns.

The caverns was discovered in 1804 by Bernard Weyer while trying to retrieve one of his traps. Weyers Cave opened for tours in 1806, making it the oldest continually operating show cave in the U.S. This is just one among the many things you will remember about the last day of Bike Virginia’s grand ride in 2016.

These wonderful stops just punctuate the beautiful valley riding that only the Shenandoah can offer. Check out the detailed route maps at our Bike Routes Page.

Relax as you meander your way back to camp because once you are back you will be treated to a great lunch and a “You Did It” Celebration to cap off your perfect week of riding!

When you’ve enjoyed all the event has to offer you can hop in your car and head home. You car will be right there, conveniently located at the event headquarters so you can load and depart without any hassles. That’s why we love the Double Vision format.
