Camping

Outdoor Camping

Most Bike Virginia cyclists camp each night on the grounds of Event Headquarters (see addresses above). Camping is a fun way to spend time with other cyclists. Don’t worry though, our camping areas are quiet and restful. We have quiet hours from 10pm to 6am.

  • You will need to bring your own tent and camping gear unless you book a tent reservation with Mayberry’s Sherpa Service or Cycling Logistics.
  • Camping gear and other belongings must be completely contained in a maximum of two bags weighing no more than 50 lbs each.
  • Cooking and coolers are not allowed in the camping areas. Due to space limitations, we do not allow easy-up canopies or other shade shelters in addition to your tent.

Sherpa Camping

A mobile camping service will be provided on Bike Virginia. This “Sherpa” service will save you time and energy at the camping area by allowing them to do the work for you. They will provide a dome tent (single or double), air mattress, sleeping bag, pillow and towel. In addition to supplying you with the Camping Basics, they will also set up and tear down your camp on a daily basis. www.sherpamayberry.com.   Cycling Logistics has been providing baggage transport and other popular daily services to its customers since 1999.

Indoor Camping

Due to a change in venue for 2013, indoor camping will NOT be available.

If you don’t like the hassle of setting up your tent make sure you check out one of our Sherpa services mentioned above.  They offer a wide range of options (including your own air mattress!) and best of all you don’t have to worry about the details, they take care of everything!  Not to mention you get to meet some really great like minded people that are camping with you, its a great way to experience the tour.

RV Camping

Limited space is available for RV’s at Event Headquarters.  Please contact us by email or phone to reserve your spot.

Camping Luggage Services

Luggage will be transferred at no cost for camping cyclists. We will move your camping gear from one Headquarters to the next and back again for free.  Make sure you check your tour guide for luggage drop-off times and location.

Hotels, B&B’s and Inns

Hotels

Bike Virginia’s staff is working with a lodging booking company, Alpine Cycle AC_New_Logo_02Connection, to create room-blocks in our host towns. These hotels become the “official lodging” of our cyclists. Riders book all rooms through Alpine. Reservations requests begin being accepted on December 1.

Luggage transfer and hotel shuttle services are also offered through Alpine.
