Winter is finally letting the US out of it’s icy-fingered-grip. Hooray, you say!!

While some hearty souls have been plugging away on indoor trainers or spinning classes but many of have been hanging on by a thread of slippery commutes, and long dark nights punctuated by take-out eaten in not-so-toasty houses.

Needless to say we are all ready to see some warm spring and summer days with the pavement zipping under our wheels and pleasant breezes drying our perspiration.

When you strike out on those spring rides, it’s a good time to start a training program with Bike Virginia’s June 20-25 tour event in mind. Having a goal of an event like the tour is a great motivator and a reward for staying on track with your fitness.

A smart training schedule would grow your miles and add in some intensity or hill training in the weeks leading to June. You may also decide to include stretching and some strength training to keep your fitness well rounded as you spend time in the saddle.

Coaching services like those at Super Sport Systems, one of our event partners, can help you build a solid plan that will have you smiling every one of the 6 days of the Bike Virginia Tour.
