Bike Virginia Helps Spearhead Virginia Cyclist and Pedestrian Awareness Month

Bike Virginia Helps Spearhead Virginia Cyclist and Pedestrian Awareness Month BIKE VIRGINIA

Bike Virginia has teamed up with Drive Smart Virginia for a month long campaign in September 2013 to help make Virginia a safer place to bike and walk. The program includes media and social media campaigns as well as partnering with businesses and groups to deliver the 2013 share the road message “See and Be Seen, Visibility = Safety.”

The program is recognized at the state level with a Governor’s Proclamation.  In the proclamation the governor stated “the Commonwealth of Virginia supports efforts that help raise awareness about the importance of sharing the road in order to reduce the number of crashes and injuries.” Read the full text here… 

Bike Virginia and Drive Smart Virginia worked together to develop a variety of materials including a poster, web banners, email templates, tweets, and other tools for spreading this very important message. Download graphics and other documents from Drive Smart’s Tool Kit.

2013 marks a period of growth for this successful annual campaign, the program became a monthlong endeavor. In year’s past it has been a weeklong campaign.
