14 Things That Make This Bike Event Different

800 600 Bike Virginia
Read below about the 14 Things that make this bike event different than any other you will find.
There is a special chemistry that goes into making Bike Virginia’s bike event experience something completely apart from other bike events. Our team- board, volunteers, and staff, keep our ear to the ground and we’ve worked really hard over the last 30 years to make our event something special, something outstanding, and truly one of a kind. That’s all thanks to you and riders just like you who have guided us and helped us become better every year.
We read and discuss every idea, every comment that we receive, taking those suggestions and critiques to heart.
In the last 9 years we’ve been through tremendous change to keep pace with the services you want and opportunities that exist. Times change and we have to do so to stay relevant. Here are a few of the benefits our participants now enjoy:
6 Days- Starting on Friday- We kick off our bike vacation with a ride on Friday afternoon. It’s the perfect way to forget the workweek and start your weekend right. Cruise on our hand selected route then enjoy a cold beverage, listen to some great live music, and let the workweek melt away.
Moving Camp Once– We know you love exploring for 6 days and the perfect amount of change without too much moving seems to be 2 host locations within a short drive of one another.
Weekend and Weekday Options- With lives getting busier than ever, it’s flexibility that allows many participants to come. Join for a 3 day weekend, 3 day weekday, or single day rides. The choice is yours, we guarantee any day of the event has the fun-factor you’re looking for.
Your Car Nearby– Our new format lets you have your car nearby every day, even at the second location. No need to take buses, no need to put your luggage on a truck. Our simple formula let’s you have freedom and control at all times. Come and go as you please! It’s incredibly freeing for participants.
Loops Every Day- No more point to point rides. This is very different than most multi-day bike event. This gives you incredible flexibility. Each day we offer loops from 10-100 miles.Choose that morning or even on the route, based on how you feel or what you want to see. Our new base-camp move model makes is possible for us to eliminate one way, point to point rides of a prescribed length.
Move Day Makeover- We now have an all new “move day” strategy. Participants pack and leave at their leisure and drive their own car with gear to our second site. This means that you’re car is your base for the duration. The best part of all, on Wednesday ride the loop you want, and when you’re ready you can leave at any time.
Food Trucks– The food truck craze has revolutionized eating at our event. Thanks to all the great vendors now available we can offer you more choices and extended dining hours over traditional catered meals.
Premium Rest Stops- While peanut butter sandwiches and bananas are great, there’s more deliciousness to be had. We cater one designated rest stop (out of several stops) each day with a special treat that will leave you smiling.
More Fun With Music– Live music was always a part of Bike Virginia but now we have music on-site. It’s easy to socialize without the hassle. And you can play too if you want to join a jam session.
Special Regional OutingsLocal activities are part of every event. We want you to experience the wineries, the shows, the museums, the downtowns, and all the cool and unique things the region has to offer.
Downtime Done Right- If what you need is to relax and reset, we’ve got you covered. Between Yoga, Massage, and Meditation you’ll be feeling rested and recharged.
Family Camping Area– It’s great to have a place where you know kids can play with other kids. That’s what our family camp area is all about. Young families and grandparents alike can easily camp out at Bike Virginia.
SAG Coordination- “Mission Control” makes sure that SAG is right where they need to be. This innovative program keeps our SAG team in motion and easily accessible all throughout the day.
Critical Respones- In the event that road conditions change on the route, our Critical Response team makes live adjustments to routes to keep the event experience as terrific as possible.
We love hosting this event and make every effort possible to create the best bike vacation experience you can have. Every year, we make it our mission to be better, to be innovative, and to create more fun than you ever thought possible.
We hope to see you in June.
Warm regards,
Dr. Kim Perry & The Bike Virginia Crew
