Donations of $29,500 Made to Civic Groups by Bike Virginia
Every 2018 Bike Virginia registration helped to support over 20 local civic organizations in the New River Valley of Virginia. The event producers work closely with local organizations to provide all the services needed to support 1,700 visiting guests as they enjoy 6 days of bicycling and tourism activities.
Donations are provided to the civic groups in exchange for volunteer time or use of their facilities.
Local civic groups help at the event in a variety of roles including:
- Hosting rest stops & providing manpower at rest stops
- Preparing food
- Parking assistance
- Headquarters clean up
- Registration assistance
- Handling equipment
- Facility set-up
- Facility rental
In 2018, the organization provided over $29,500 in contributions to those civic groups for their support and facilities.
The following organizations took part in our 2018 event and received donated funds that were made possible by rider participation. This aspect of Bike Virginia is a part of the large economic impact that the event has on the host region each year. There is an estimated economic boost of $2.8 million during the 6 days of the event.
We thank you for helping support economies in Virginia’s host communities.
