Family Bike Event Features

The Bike Virginia event planners are offering new family features for the 2016 event.

• Family Camping Area with dedicated portable bathrooms nearby. Gather your crew in the family camping area where they can enjoy meeting other kids. Hotel options are also available nearby.
• Family Friendly entertainment activities are offered at the bike event like live music and games. Enjoy relaxing around camp after riding your bike, head to the nearby swimming pool (in Woodstock), or take one of special outing trips to enjoy local activities. Each evening we offer live music at camp.
• Teen and Family Bike Routes- each day families have a choice of routes. We include one designated routes for teenage riders with a mileage of around 20-40 miles. Just remember teens under 16 must be accompanied at all times by an adult and kids under 12 must be on an adult steered bike. We recommend that young riders always stick with a group of adults as we travel through some isolated rural areas.
• Loop Routes make planning easy. If you do decide to split up and ride different mileages our loop routes make this easy. Part of the crew can ride short while part rides long. You will have choices generally between 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 miles. Century rides are offered 2 times during the 2016 event.
• Easy and convenient food makes feeding the flock a breeze. Enjoy many rest stops on the bike routes that are packed with snacks and drinks. These are a great stop-off to let the little ones much and play between ride segments. After riding enjoy a meal at the Bike Virginia Food Court. You will get 2-5 meal vouchers with your registration, depending on type.
• SAG (Support and Gear) Truck support for mechanical problems or exhaustion when riding is offered every day. You can ride with the peace of mind of knowing we will pick you up and return you to headquarters if you have problems. Please be sure to provide us with a car seat at hospitality if one is needed.
• Take a day off. Unlike other multi-day bike events you can easily take a day off when riding with us. Because we offer loop rides instead of one-ways you have the choice to rest, relax, explore the area by car.
• Head home if needed. Because we use the Double Vision format (moving your car forward to the second headquarters on day 4), you have access to your car for the entire 6 day bike event. This makes it easy to take off for home if something arises you didn’t expect.

Weekend Getaway

Bike Virginia offers 3 ways to enjoy the event, Weekend, 6 Day or Weekday.

If you’re looking for a fun outdoor family weekend activity in Virginia Come for the Bike Virginia Weekend Getaway, Friday through Sunday. Participants in this portion of the event visit one location versus two locations of the longer 6 day tour. The 2016 Weekend Getaway bike ride is in Woodstock Virginia. The quaint community offers restaurants, shops, and a town swimming pool nearby the event headquarters.

6- Days of Riding

If you’re truly in the mood to reset and play then the 6 day bike ride is the ticket for you and your family. We camp in and visit 2 regions over the 6 days. Woodstock is our first stop and Harrisonburg rounds out the event with a strong finish. Routes are loop rides each day, meaning you begin and end at the same spot. Take a day off or go short on a day if you want to rest or recover. The options are truly yours with our route selections. Take the leap and go for 6 days, you’ll love it so much you will not want to go home.

Weekday Fun

If your weekends are jammed with commitments consider the Weekday Getaway, Monday-Wednesday. This three day package offers riding in one region, Harrisonburg, Virginia. You’ll have loop rides on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with lots of options. Camp or stay in hotels, enjoy the food and entertainment. We promise to show some very cool places and a really fun time.
