There is a world class cycling event happening in the heart of Virginia September 19-27, 2015. Yep, Virginia, as in the home of Bike Virginia. We’ve always know that the state had great cycling. Now the world will get a taste! Richmond was committee selected to host this honored race event several years ago. Since that time the city has been preparing for the excitement.
Fans and racers from around the world are gathering for this spectacular race event. Course cover Richmond and some surrounding counties for a variety of race events over the 9 days featuring a host of different rider types.

If you’ve never seen top level road racing in person definitely try to catch one of the events. It’s will send chills down your skin to see the speed and hear the wheels singing on the pavement.
Television Coverage of the UCI World Championship Races
If you’re tied up and can’t make it to the city for the event, be sure to watch some of the excitement on TV. Over 30 hours of coverage will be aired.
Universal Sports Network and NBC Sports Group will present more than 33 premiere hours, including 26 hours live, from the 2015 UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Richmond, Va, from September 20 – 27. The unprecedented television coverage across four networks includes 16.5 hours of coverage planned for Universal Sports, 9 for NBCSN, 6.5 for CNBC and 1 for NBC. Additionally, NBC Sports Live Extra will stream all NBC, NBCSN and CNBC telecasts, and UniversalSports.com will stream all Universal Sports coverage. Live streaming also will be available at Richmond2015.com and on a new Richmond 2015 mobile app for iOS and Android devices which will be released later this week, (Richmond2015.com)
Richmond Event: A Legacy For Bicycling
The races are sure to leave a legacy on the world of cycling for Virginia. In Richmond the roadways have been significantly improved with marked bike lanes, lowered speed limits, and other rider amenities. The whole state’s awareness about of the power of cycling as an economic force has been raised. “It’s a great time to be working on cycling initiatives in Virginia. There is a wonderful energy in the air around creating better places to ride and encouraging more people to take up this great form of transportation, recreation, and sport,” said Dr. Kim Perry, Executive Director of Bike Virginia.
