Routes and GPS Files

There’s lots of riding to choose from on the 2013 tour. To view individual route profiles and maps look at our Routes Page .

This is also the place to download any GPS files you might want. Just click on the colorful sign arrows to go to the Ride with GPS files.

Note: these are drafts, final routes may vary during the event due to unforeseen circumstances. At the event follow the Bike Virginia arrow signs.

Ride Manual

It’s time to download your Rider Manual. This important document contains:

  • arrival information
  • directions
  • information on check-in
  • camping set-up at the event

Please take time to read the material. You might even choose to print the document specific pages for carrying too.

Parking and Camping

Take a look at the site maps to make sure you know where to park and camp. It’s important to camp and park only in designated areas identified in your Ride Manual. Community leaders have identified approved spots for us in all our activity locations. Please help us maintain good relations by following these easy requirements. View and download the maps here…

Tour Guide

When you check in at the event you will be given a copy of the Tour Guide as part of your rider packet. It’s a map size document that is folded to fit nicely into your jersey pocket. The document contains all the route details, schedules and site maps for the event. Please take care of your copy. There are no extras.

The Tour Guide will be on display at several locations around headquarters on our information kiosks.

All the information found in the Tour Guide is available in the Guidebook App. The app will go live on June 15. We will send an email notification when the app document is ready for downloading.

Some riders like to print additional copies so they can cut up the document for carrying or have a back-up on hand. Please note this is a very large document. You can also do screen shots of various pieces of the document and print them as smaller individual files.

You can download a copy of the Tour Guide here…

Route Rap

In response to rider requests we’ve got a brand new “Route Rap” this year to help you make the most out of the tour.

At 6pm each evening Friday through Tuesday the Bike Va staff will give a brief 10-15 minute overview of what the next day will hold. On Friday we’ll have a special welcome with details about the week, On Saturday we will award our community bicycling grants, and on Sunday the Raffle drawing for our custom bike will be held during the Route Rap.

Please join us to get the inside scoop on all the event services and fun activities.

Cell Phone Charging

We are based in parks this year, and the access to electricity is limited. Please see information below about charging your mobile devices.

HQ 1- Buena Vista- outlets are available in a few locations around the park (picnic shelters, lunch pavilion and such.) If you use these plugs please be mindful of other’s need to charge as well.

HQ2- A cell phone charging service will provide the only access to electricity at this location. The county park service has been kind enough to set up a charging station. A $3 fee applies for each device charged. Hours of charging are from 2pm-10pm Monday and Tuesday.

Other Options:  You may also wish to consider a solar or kinetic charging device (kinetic works to charge from your movement and is great for biking). Here is one example of a Kinetic Charger by nPower.

Participants can ride our free sightseeing shuttles each day/evening for outings (12pm-10pm).

  • Friday- Lexington downtown (VMI, W&L, shops)
