At the end of a long fun day of riding, nothing is more enjoyable than a heart meal. We ride so we know! That’s why we put special attention into planning our meal menus.
For 2011 dinners we have 3 returning caterers that have brought smiles to our rider’s faces. Don’t miss out on the 2011 Dinner Plan. We’ll take care of all the details so you can relax and enjoy your friends.
Three meals will be included in the $60 prepurchase dinner plan. We will offer shuttles from tent city to dinner each of the three nights. You’ll also be in the perfect spot to enjoy the evening’s entertainment as the meals are served at the evening entertainment location.
Saturday night will offer your first dinner. Smokey’s Barbecue of Wytheville will join us again (they catered our NRV ride in 2002). You’ll dine on a hearty chicken barbecue plate with homemade vegetable sides. Dessert will top off the meal, and beverages will be provided. You’ll be dining at the historic Calfee Park Baseball Stadium where you can hang around for the evening baseball game and a beach music concert by the Embers. Shuttle transportation will be provided to and from tent city.
Monday evening you’ll be delivered by shuttle from tent city to downtown Radford where the dinner will be held at the city’s Farmer’s Market. Mill Valley Barbecue is traveling all the way from Madison to be with us again this year. They’ve gotten rave reviews in 2009 and 2010 so we’re delighted to have them with us again. Mill Valley will serve up their signature skewers of vegetables, beef, chicken, and shrimp. You’ll get some great toppings, some wheat wraps, and homemade side dishes. And be sure to grab some of Mill Valley’s Dessert, you won’t be disappointed. Beverages will be served. After dinner, you’ll just be a short stroll away from several venues offering live music.
Tuesday night, the last night of the tour, we’ll finish with a bang. A short walk or shuttle ride will take you to Bissett Park, along the bank of the New River. We’ll enjoy a Luau Feast prepared by Mama Ralphaeal’s. Again, a highly loved caterer from 2010, Mama’s will dazzle us with a menu of roast pork, grilled fish, ginger-pineapple peas & rice, seafood paella, orange-apple sweet potatoes. Be sure to save a little room for dessert, Mama’s will serve up some tasty tropical pudding and macadamia nut cookies. Tea and Lemonade will be ready to quench your thirst. After your meal you’ll be at the right place to enjoy a relaxing evening of live Jazz while you enjoy the tranquil New River.
