The Draper Mercantile welcomes Bike Virginia to our area and is proud to host “Blues and Brews.” We invite you to come on over and enjoy good food and good music as well as a showcase of local artists with original work available for purchase. A cash bar will feature excellent craft brews from one of the finest breweries in the Blue Ridge Mountains as well as all your old favorite brews. Ticket price includes your meal, a commemorative pint glass with the “Brews and Blues” artwork of famous folk artist Lennie Jones, and live entertainment featuring The Patrick Rock Band.
You will step into a living piece of Virginia’s past at the Mercantile. As one of the oldest institutions in Pulaski County, the Draper Mercantile has been a community gathering place since the mid-1800s, providing goods and services necessary for life in the rural mountain town. The Draper Mercantile has long been the heart of the community, over the years the building has housed the post office, mayor’s office, general store, blacksmith and barber shop – just to name a few. The local farmers would bring their hogs and turkeys in the fall to trade for groceries and other goods.
Today, the Draper Mercantile continues to serve as the heart of the community. The building is being restored as an arts and cultural heritage center showcasing the best of Southwest Virginia. It features a local foods market with healthy cuisine and sustainable living products, art gallery, stage with regular live music events, and outdoor recreation outfitters. Continuing its legacy of serving the community, the Draper Mercantile and Trading Company is dedicated to the enterprise of creating economic opportunity for the region while preserving and celebrating the unique cultural heritage of Southwest Virginia. www.drapermerc.com
